Terms of service
For the ByeDock macOS desktop application, software licenses, and website.
Version 1.0 · Effective October 4, 2026
1. Parties and scope
These terms are between you and Mei Guanding, the individual operating ByeDock from Shenzhen, China ("we", "us"). Our website is https://byedock.com. Contact support@byedock.com for product, license, payment, refund, privacy, or security inquiries. We reply within 3 business days.
These terms cover the ByeDock website, macOS application, trial, and software licenses. Purchases through Waffo Pancake also follow the sales and payment terms shown at checkout. These terms govern software use; Waffo Pancake is the Merchant of Record identified at checkout and on invoices.
Read these terms before installing or purchasing. Do not install or purchase if you disagree. Purchasers must be at least 18 and have capacity to contract. If purchasing for a company or organization, you must be authorized to represent it. The purchase process must provide explicit acceptance of these terms.
2. Software, requirements, and permissions
ByeDock is a downloadable Mac taskbar and app launcher for opening apps, switching and minimizing windows, pinning apps, and customizing the taskbar. It is desktop software, without a cloud workspace or generative AI service. Features are described on the product page and in documentation for the version purchased.
macOS 14 is the minimum supported system. Window management requires Accessibility permission granted through macOS; certain system actions may require Automation permission. You can revoke permissions in System Settings, which may disable related features.
Other applications, system permissions, and macOS changes can affect functionality. Use the trial to check compatibility with your Mac, macOS version, displays, and regularly used apps before buying.
3. 14-day free trial
The free trial lasts 14 calendar days from the first launch of ByeDock. It creates no subscription or automatic payment authorization and does not convert automatically to a paid license.
If the trial expires without an activated paid license, a running ByeDock displays a warning and quits, and further use cannot be launched. If it is not running at expiry, a later launch for use is blocked. Purchasing and activating a valid license restores access.
Do not reset trial records, manipulate device identity, or otherwise repeat the same trial entitlement.
4. Single-device perpetual license and major-version scope
A personal license is purchased by an individual in their own name for their own use on one Mac they own or control. A commercial license is purchased by a company or other business organization for its business use; each device requires its own commercial license. The software is licensed, not sold. Licenses are non-exclusive and cannot be transferred to another person or entity. Backups do not increase the device allowance.
The current major version offered is 1.x. A perpetual license covers that major version at purchase, excluding future major versions such as 2.x. Unless lawfully terminated or refunded, its use does not expire merely because a new major version is released or maintenance ends. End of maintenance does not mean license expiry.
Maintenance updates actually released for the licensed major version are included. Indefinite maintenance, support, and compatibility with future macOS are not promised. Future major versions may be sold separately, with charges disclosed before purchase. You may continue using a licensed version in a compatible environment.
A license is bound by default to the device on which it is activated. While ByeDock’s online activation service remains operational, users may use that service to deactivate the original device and reactivate the same license on another device. The original device must be deactivated first, and the licensed device allowance must not be exceeded. ByeDock does not undertake to operate the online activation service indefinitely or guarantee the continued availability of device deactivation or reactivation on a replacement device. If the service ceases, migration to another device may no longer be available; cessation of the service does not, by itself, invalidate a lawful license on its existing activated device. This provision does not limit users’ rights under applicable law.
To change Macs, you must first deactivate the old device yourself before activating the same license on a new device. You bear the risk that damage, loss, or another inability to deactivate the old device prevents activation on a replacement. We do not promise manual resets or exceptional migrations. This restriction does not exclude rights arising from our breach or applicable law.
5. One-time purchases, payment, and taxes
A personal license costs US$12 per device, and a commercial license costs US$20 per device, each as a one-time purchase excluding tax. Applicable taxes and the final amount and currency are shown before payment. Current prices appear on our pricing page. Later price changes do not alter completed orders.
Each purchase authorizes only the amount confirmed at checkout, without renewal, recurring billing, or automatic top-up. Neither the trial nor a future major upgrade triggers an automatic charge.
Waffo Pancake provides checkout and payments and acts as Merchant of Record for payments, applicable taxes, and invoices. The license type, device count, major version, and all mandatory charges must be clear before ordering.
A personal license cannot replace a commercial license required for a company or business organization. We will not ask you to email full card numbers, security codes, or payment verification codes.
6. Digital delivery and order security
Digital delivery is immediate once payment is confirmed. License information appears in the Waffo customer portal, with notification to the purchase email. The application is downloaded from the website without physical shipment. If the email is missing, check spam, visit the Waffo customer portal, or contact support@byedock.com.
Activation uses the license code and purchase email and requires online verification. Supply an accurate email that can receive messages and keep license and order information secure. Do not publish, transfer, or share a license beyond its entitlement.
An internet connection is required for activation and license verification. For order, email, or activation problems, contact support with your purchase email and order number, without full payment-card information.
7. Refund policy
An unconditional full refund is available only for a purchaser’s first ByeDock license purchase, on request within 14 calendar days of that purchase, without proof of a defect or a reason. A purchase after a previous refund, additional licenses, and other subsequent purchases do not qualify for this unconditional guarantee.
This restriction does not affect statutory refunds, consumer guarantees, or withdrawal rights. Duplicate charges and payment without delivery of a valid license are investigated regardless of purchase history. A legally required refund cannot be refused merely because the order is not a first purchase.
Email support@byedock.com with your refund request, purchase email, and order number. We reply within 3 business days and submit a qualifying refund within 5 business days of receiving the request. Bank and payment-provider arrival times are additional and determine when funds reach you.
Refunds normally return to the original payment method. A completed full refund terminates the corresponding paid license; stop using its paid features.
8. Consumer rights and payment disputes
These terms preserve consumer guarantees, remedies, refunds, and withdrawal rights that applicable law does not allow us to exclude. Where immediate digital delivery requires separate consent and acknowledgment of loss of a withdrawal right, checkout must obtain that consent expressly. Installation or use alone is not treated here as a universal waiver.
For a suspected billing error, contact support with the order number so we can investigate and correct confirmed errors. Doing so is not a prerequisite to contacting your bank, payment provider, or consumer authority, or exercising legal rights.
9. Intellectual property and your content
We and the respective rights holders retain rights in the software, interface, included artwork, and documentation. Third-party components and materials remain subject to their own licenses. This agreement does not restrict rights expressly granted by an applicable open-source license.
You retain rights in custom images, app data, and other content you own. Using a local taskbar does not transfer that content to us or grant promotional or model-training rights. You must have permission to use your chosen custom images.
10. Permitted use and restrictions
Use the software within the scope of your personal or commercial license. Do not bypass trial or license limits, falsify orders, distribute cracked copies, or sell, rent, transfer, or sublicense the license.
Do not use the application to control another person’s device unlawfully, violate privacy or intellectual property, or interfere with system security. Decompiling, disassembling, or reverse engineering is prohibited except where applicable law or a third-party license permits it. Lawful interoperability research and good-faith security reporting are not prohibited.
11. Local processing, privacy, and payments
Device identifiers, activation records, purchase email, and order details are used only for licensing, transactions, and support. Crash reports diagnose ByeDock itself and require disclosure of their contents and your affirmative choice before submission. The privacy policy describes the scope and retention rules.
Window and app information used by the taskbar, custom images, and settings are processed on your device, without uploading them for license checks or crash reporting. User document content, other apps’ window titles, browsing records, passwords, and unrelated personal content must not be uploaded.
Waffo Pancake’s payment channel handles card information. ByeDock does not store full card numbers or security codes. Device identifiers and email addresses may be personal data and are not treated as anonymous merely because they relate to ByeDock.
Privacy policy12. Updates, support, and compatibility
Version documentation will state known requirements and important changes. Ending maintenance or changing compatibility or support does not automatically revoke a paid license for its major version.
Local window management depends on macOS and other apps. Except for mandatory legal guarantees or our express commitments, compatibility with every app, future system version, or unusual window behavior is not guaranteed. Revised terms cannot by themselves narrow a purchased major-version entitlement or introduce recurring charges.
13. Warranties and liability
To the extent permitted by law, the software is provided in its supplied condition, without additional guarantees of fitness for a particular purpose, continuous availability, or error-free operation beyond express purchase commitments and mandatory warranties.
To the extent permitted by law, we exclude indirect losses, lost profits, and incidental damages, and cap aggregate liability relating to a software license at the amount actually paid for that license. This does not limit liability for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, personal injury, or anything law prohibits limiting, and does not restrict statutory refunds or consumer remedies.
14. Ending use and termination
You may stop using and uninstall the application at any time, without canceling a subscription. Uninstalling is not itself a refund request and does not trigger further charges.
A material license violation, verified payment fraud, or legal requirement may lead to necessary and proportionate restrictions or termination. Where a breach can be remedied, notice and a reasonable opportunity to cure should be provided first. A new release or end of maintenance is not a reason to terminate an older licensed version.
After lawful termination or a completed full refund, stop using the affected paid license. If we revoke paid use without your breach, we must refund the affected license or provide remedies required by law. Accrued refund, consumer, and privacy rights survive termination.
15. Law and disputes
Applicable law and jurisdiction are determined under the relevant legal rules. These terms do not exclude mandatory consumer protections in your habitual place of residence.
Contact support@byedock.com to seek an informal resolution. Unresolved disputes may be referred to a competent court or authority. These terms do not require mandatory arbitration or waive statutory complaint channels.
16. Changes and version records
Material changes are notified at least 14 days in advance, with the new version and effective date. Notices are provided through purchase email or the application and published on the website. Changes requiring separate consent will obtain it. Changes cannot retroactively reduce a completed purchase’s license scope.
An unenforceable provision does not invalidate the remaining enforceable provisions. English and Chinese versions should have equivalent substance, without translation differences excluding mandatory rights. Historical versions will identify terms applicable to a purchase.
